Martina Amati 

Still frames taken, movement sketched in watercolour and pencil on paper, then digitally elaborated for the print edition. In Digital Variations, every step is like a meditation, Amati, submerged, breath held. 

Her work focuses on the human body in motion, exploring the boundaries of its strength and fragility. In her own words: "I aim to conjure a sense of harmonious stillness, where time, space, and being merge into one. Effort dissolves, and one becomes part of the surrounding whole.”

Born in Milan, Italy, in 1969, Martina Amati is a film director, screenwriter, and artist currently residing between Devon and London. 

Amati's films have screened globally, including at Sundance, Berlinale, and the London Film Festival. Her multiple screen installation Under showcased at Ambika P3, the Wellcome Collection, Messums Wiltshire, and QAGOMA.
